EXPLORING THE PROMISING FUTURE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Recently, the growth in of Artificial Intelligence has been receiving a great deal of attention. The AI technology has been expanding its roots since last decade, but where we are standing today, everyone knows what’s coming. China is already setting the footprints for other nations and the day isn’t too far away when machines will replace humans at workstations.
Whether we take it as a technological accomplishment or an invitation to a dangerous future filled with unbridled machines, the fuss about artificial intelligence (AI) is reaching new limits every other day. Constant works are held every day by the scientists and researchers with a mainstream view in mind. The fight is all about watching out the societal implications first of what they are designing, building and calling an AI. The concern lies in embedding these AI systems to reflect and respect our values.
Unlike the computers, the real world doesn’t work on algorithms. It is unpredictable, or rather messy. We rely on our intuitions to make decisions, whether it is about weather, food, recognizing objects or even visiting a doctor.
However, machines don’t have their own thinking ability. They work on the algorithms fed to them. Therefore, a newer concept was born called machine learning, or we might rather know it as “Self learning AI”. A code which enables problem-solving within machine based on the information they receive and store. This technique had already done wonders in face recognizing software, predicting weather conditions, natural calamities such as the earthquake, analyzing stock market fluctuations and suggesting users the data best of their interest and much more.
If we intend to analyze the good and bad kind of futures build on the range of both optimistic and provocative projections, the technology has the audacity to lead us. Since the introduction of cloud servers, the development and use of AI have found its profound impacts. And ever since its inception machine learning is paving its way through the neural networks. Studying and adapting the working of a human brain was never easy, but examining the way neurons recognize and transmit data, the changes were profound. However, due to their reliance on large data sets, the overall working went slow.
The new future predicted of artificial intelligence lies in the integration of various competencies, like learning, language, speech, vision, planning to name a few. These complex AI systems have still a long way to go to interact with humans in an open-world environment.
Progress is still ongoing in the area of artificial intelligence and might take years of dedicated research and designing, for AI’s to reach up to the perceptual ability and potential as humans do.
